British bare knuckle standout Tyler Goodjohn says he’s been living clean and is ready to take on Tony Soto.
The two fighters collide in the lightweight main event at BKFC 42, taking place on 12 May in Greenville, South Carolina.
“El Tornado”
A former English boxing champion , Goodjohn went 3-0 with Britain’s BKB organisation before joining BKFC.
He debuted with a decision win against MMA veteran Charles Bennett at BKFC 15 in December 2020.
Six months later, Goodjohn unsuccessfully challenged for the BKFC Lightweight Title, losing on points to champion Luis Palomino.
The fight against Soto is Goodjohn’s first since a decision loss to James Lilley last August at BKFC 27 in Wembley.
Goodjohn was badly cut in the Lilley fight. He says he made the mistake of being too aggressive early against the Welsh fighter but still thinks the fight could have gone “either way.”
The Brit needs a win against Soto to avoid 3 straight defeats and to climb back into the BKFC lightweight rankings.
Soto Looking for Signature Win
Soto has got off to a good start in his bare knuckle boxing career, going 4-0 since debuting with BKFC in July 2021.
None of his opponents have had Goodjohn’s pedigree or bare knuckle experience. Soto will be stepping up in class against the British veteran.
Three of Soto’s wins are inside the distance, although Goodjohn has never been stopped in a bare knuckle boxing match.
A win over Goodjohn establishes Soto as a legitimate BKFC lightweight contender. Not surprisingly, the two fighters have been exchanging insults on social media in the weeks leading up to the 12 May showdown.
BKFC 42: Return to South Carolina
BKFC 42 is the promotion’s second event in the American state of South Carolina. South Carolina began sanctioning bare knuckle boxing last year, and both BKFC and BYB Extreme are holding events there regularly.
In addition to the Goodjohn-Soto main event, 11 other matches are scheduled.
BKFC 42 is being streamed live on the BKFC app and Fite TV pay-per-view. The broadcast begins at 1am Saturday May 13 UK time (8pm EST on Friday in the US).
