BYB News & Notes: Desert Brawl Fight Card Update, Return to Carolina Official, UFC Veteran Signs Multi-Fight Contract

BYB’s first bare knuckle boxing event in Dubai is just weeks away.

BYB Desert Brawl: From the USA to the UAE takes place on 18 March at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The event streams live on Core Sports pay-per-view.

The BYB 16 fight card is taking shape. Five bouts are now official, including a world title fight, a heavyweight bout and two ladies matches.

Martinjak Battles Hatch for World Title

In the title bout, Croatian standout Marko Martinjak faces the explosive Jarome Hatch.

The fight has been sanctioned for the Police Gazette World Diamond Belt.

It’s Martinjak’s 2nd straight fight against a BYB fighter. The Croatian impressively beat Chad Kelly at BKB 29 last December.

Martinjak knocked the shorter Kelly down 3 times, earning the BKB World Title. A win against Hatch earns him a 2nd belt.

Hatch is 2-0 in BYB. Neither opponent survived the opening round.

Hatch made quick work of Teagan Dooley at BYB 11. He followed up with another first round TKO against Scott O’Shaughnessy at BYB 13.

He’ll look to improve his bare knuckle record to 3-0 against the dangerous Martinjak. Fighting out of Mont Belvieu, Texas, the 36-year-old Hatch is a veteran of over 30 MMA bouts.

O’Shaughnessy looks to rebound from the Hatch defeat. The BYB and BKFC and MMA veteran collides with Mohamad Gharabi.

Women’s Bouts Official for BYB Desert Brawl

Fans of female fighting get their fix with two women’s bouts at BYB: Desert Brawl.

BYB veteran “Red” Sonya Dreiling returns against Jessika Smith.

Dreiling is 6-3 as a pro boxer. She’s yet to taste victory in BYB’s Mighty Trigon, the promotion’s patented triangle-shaped ring.

Dreiling has gone the distance in BYB losses to Erin Toughill, Miranda Barber, and Jamie Driver.

The other ladies bout has an international flavour. 2018 Muay Boran Gold Medalist Mariana Kamara of Lebanon faces unbeaten boxer Agnesa Kirakosian from Armenia

Eric Olsen vs Richie Leak

The heavyweight bout pits controversial veteran Eric Olsen against Richie Leak.

Olsen is an American fighting out of the UK. He’s a bare knuckle veteran, with over 10 fights under his belt.

Olsen’s recent fights have been memorable for the wrong reasons. He’s been disqualified twice-for intentional head butts and eye gouging in matches in BKB and at BYB 12.

Leak, like Olsen, competes for Britain’s BKB promotion. He defeated former champ Jody Meikle at BKB 29 in December.

BYB Returning to South Carolina

After becoming the first bare knuckle promotion to get sanctioned by South Carolina in the modern era, BYB is returning to the state.

BYB 17 takes place on 13 May, with popular local Joshua Oxendine slated to return on the card.

The hard-hitting Oxendine is 3-1 in bare knuckle. He lost by TKO to Kobe Bowen at BYB 4 when he couldn’t continue after being accidentally poked in the eye. Since then, Oxendine has won by stoppage against Chris Gonzalez and Cody Jenkins at BYB 14 and BYB 15.

BYB Signs UFC Veteran Coulter

UFC veteran Rashad Coulter put pen to paper with BYB Extreme.

BYB announced it signed Coulter to a “multi fight” agreement.

Coulter is a combat sports all rounder. Besides MMA, Coulter has also competed in Muay Thai kickboxing as well as gloved boxing.

The 41-year-old went 1-3 in the UFC, and also competed for Bellator MMA and Legacy Fighting Alliance.
