BKFC 47: Can Richman Bounce Back?

BKFC 47 Fight Poster: Mundell vs Richman

Pound for pound, is there a harder puncher in bare knuckle boxing than Mike “The Marine” Richman?

The Bellator MMA veteran turned bare knuckler has proven himself a dangerous force since taking off the gloves.

After winning his debut in Britain at a BKB event, Richman linked up with BKFC. He’s emerged as one of the promotion’s popular fighters with a series of devastating knockouts.

Richman made quick work of former title challenger Marcel Stamps in his debut. He then scored devastating knockouts against Dakota Cochrane and David Rickels.

Richman was soon matched with fellow unbeaten Isaac Doolittle. “The Marine” survived a scare, getting badly rocked in round two before coming back to KO Doolittle in the third.

One Punch Away

With an unbeaten BKFC record of 4-0 with 4 KOs, Richman was rewarded with a shot at the BKFC Light Heavyweight Title.

Facing one of the sport’s best fighters in Lorenzo “The Juggernaut” Hunt, Richman knocked Hunt down and was seemingly a punch away from winning the title.

One punch changes everything.

Hunt landed a beautiful shot as Richman was on the attack. The punch knocked Richman down and out, putting his championship dreams on hold.

Something to Prove for Mundell

5 months after the Hunt loss, Mike Richman gets a second championship opportunity. This time at middleweight.

Richman faces BKFC Middleweight Champion David Mundell Friday night in Lakeland, Florida. The championshp bout headlines BKFC 47.

Mundell (6-1 BKFC) is making his first title defence since winning the belt last December. “The Redneck” is on a four fight winning streak. His only loss was to Hector Lombard by decision over 3 years ago.

It’s a must win fight for Richman. A second straight loss could put his title dreams on hold.

Mundell is facing his toughest opponent since losing to Lombard. Beating a popular name fighter like Richman will show the world he’s a legitimate world champion.

Look for Richman to be more cautious after the Hunt loss. He’ll still be coming forward though, while Mundell figures to try and box the power punching Richman early.

Friday’s nights event is available to stream on the BKFC app (subscription required). Fans can also watch BKFC 47 on a pay-per-view basis via Fite TV and YouTube.
